Katzen Arts Center

This was a new construction project of a multi-use facility on The American University campus for the Art Department . The facility is comprised of three distinct components: a fine arts gallery, performing arts wing and an academic wing. The performance wing includes a 210-seat recital hall, a dance studio and a 150-seat theater studio. The academic wing contains classrooms, studios, music practice rooms and offices. Other features include an outdoor sculpture garden, extensive outdoor plaza area and three levels of underground parking. This project included multiple systems in the electrical scope including: electrical distribution, interior power, interior and exterior lighting, mechanical power, elevator power and recall, fire alarm, smoke evacuation, raceways for security, communication and audio visual and installation of theatrical lighting and controls.
